Sharp Electronics has become the first company in the world to successfully replicate Nature's own air purification process.
By creating a positive and negative ion shower, the Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) air purifiers are able to recreate the natural chemical process that purifies the air in the Earth's troposphere. In this way, the units inactivate most airborne particles, including viruses, bacteria, mould spores, germs, fungi, and other odour causing substances. The process is even effective against many of the noxious components contained in cigarette smoke.

In addition to the revolutionary Plasmacluster Ion technology, the PCI air purifiers contain traditional HEPA and carbon filters. In combination, this dual action system provides unparalled air cleaning capabilities, attacking particulate, odours, and microorganisms. Units are available in four sizes, for rooms up to 364 square feet. All units offer Plasmacluster Ions, anti-bacterial HEPA filters, activated carbon, quiet and energy-efficient operation, clean status indicators, automatic operation through sensors. All but the smallest FP-R30CX offer a built-in humidifier both to humidify the air and to improve Plasmacluster efficiency.
Operating costs for these units are lower than most portable HEPA units. The prefilter is washable and should never require replacement under normal use. The carbon filters on all but the smallest FP-R30CX can be washed as well, to a point, greatly reducing replacement costs relative to other units. The carbon and HEPA filters will last 3-5 years on the larger units. For the smaller FP-R30CX, the HEPA and carbon filters will last 1-2 years. The humidifier filter will last up to 2 years.

The Friedrich C-90B is a console air cleaner suitable for a room up to 506 square feet. Independent laboratory tests confirm that the C-90A has one of the highest Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADR) in the industry (for more information on CADR, see www.cadr.org). This unit has also ranked number one three times running in tests by a leading US consumer reporting organization. Using electrostatic precipition, the Friedrich C-90A will trap even the very fine particles missed by most air cleaners, including HEPA units. With its full-size collection cell, large fan, and straight air path, the C-90A is quieter than other large air cleaners. The prefilter and main collection cell are washable, leaving the carbon postfilter as the only replacement item on the unit.
